A while ago I was wondering if there is a place in the Internet that connects designers strictly connected to computer graphics. Well it seems that I found such place and it seems to be CGSociety.

Although since the very beginning I was a bit sceptical when I entered the site my views changed a bit, but not completely. Maybe it is because the visual side of CG Society or for some other reasons but eventually I grew more fond of the content and I started to discover the site more and more. Basically the main advantage of CG Society is what is in there. The functionality of the page and the practical value cannot really be underestimated. Beside normal research and viewing the site there is so many things that you can do that most possibly I will run out of writing space before I reach the end.

First and foremost, CG Society it is a comprehensive study source and practical source of knowledge connected with computer graphics. You can view many impressive and outstanding profiles and portfolios with amazing pictures and graphics. You may also want to join a huge society of professionals in a forum that may help you to solve your problem or simply help you to get some idea on what to work next.

The amount of images on CG Society tops to nearly 300,000, but to be honest it is hardly possible to estimate the real amount because there are new images every day. You can also subscribe to CG Society Newsletter to get an email per week with newest piece of info on things going on the CGS.

Well one of the most interesting sections in the CG Society is probably the Workshop section. You can not only take part in a workshop, can be mentored by real professionals from the industry in as CGS call it “private online class environment”, but you can also host a workshop on a topic that interests you the most. But to do this you have to fulfil some requirements, that are possibly somewhere on the CGS site. The good news is that you may even get paid for your workshops.

There is also Job section, where you can advertise the post you are offering, and there is also a Challenge section that enables you to take part in various contests or mini-challenges if you do not have enough time to enrol in a bigger thing. There is one thing to be added to this short, but I hope exhaustive description. As far as I am concerned there is a free account that enables you to use most of the site’s features but there is also a paid membership that makes it possible to use even more features. That is a good and a bad news at the same time because the membership fee is 49$.
